Multimedia campaign features Ebola survivors

Ebola Outbreak

A multimedia campaign called ‘I survived Ebola’ has kicked off with a series of videos that feature Ebola survivors from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.  The campaign highlights messages of hope and resilience in the midst of the ongoing epidemic.

CCTV America’s Clementine Logan reported.

This is the first campaign to directly engage Ebola survivors sharing their messages of hope and resilience with affected communities.

#ISurvivedEbola also helps those who overcame the disease in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea to inform others in West Africa about how to protect themselves from the virus.

Its organizers hope the campaign will also help reduce stigmatization and promote the reintegration of Ebola survivors.

“Ebola survivors have powerful stories to tell. Their accounts of resilience and survival can inspire hundreds of others, address misconceptions and help fight stigma – one of the biggest challenges Ebola survivors face,” UNICEF’s Representative in Liberia Sheldon Yett said.

Their messages will be shared on local and international media platforms to reach the largest number of people possible.

In the coming weeks and months, #ISurvivedEbola will roll out 30 more stories; each survivor will also be given a smartphone with a mobile app to update campaign followers on their lives after recovery.
