An ongoing labor dispute at ports on the west coast of the United States is driving up the price of Christmas trees in Asia.

There may be fewer presents under Christmas trees in Asia this year, because of the cost of a real tree grown in the U.S. Tree exports to Asia have been stacked up at western U.S. ports due to a labor slowdown.

The U.S. Agriculture Transportation Coalition estimates Asian orders for 12,000 trees, already cut and ready to ship, have been canceled. Customers wanting a real tree in time for Christmas face sky-high prices to get one.
