The ninth China Beijing International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo concluded on Sunday in Beijing, showcasing a wide range of cultural and creative items, various industry trends, professional services, and high-end talents.

Around 150 cultural and creative activities were held during the four-day event. The expo attracted 1.23 million visitors, as well as participants from three international organizations and 51 delegations from 33 countries and regions.

The creative expo brought creative designs of regular folks into life. A key holder, made out of eco-friendly material, featured a figure of Tu’er Ye, known as “Beijing Rabbit God.” It can be transformed into a wallet, too.

“We can let kids do DIY (do it yourself). They can fold it into a red bag,” said Zhang Taiyun, designer of Tu’er Ye key holders.

Some products were endowed with traditional cultural factors, such as dolls wearing silver ornament of Miao ethnic group and puppets in Chinese folk art forms.

“I truly feel what really reflects our culture of innovation is not just traditional things, but also something fashionable,” said a local resident.

Besides showcasing cultural and creative products, the event presented a licensing platform to promote the industry.

“The platform is mainly to convert cultural and creative works into services for economic empowerment,” Qin Changgui, director of Beijing Cultural Development Center, said.

The expo also set up a talent cultivation center for the first time. Education and culture ministries jointly launched a program to connect cultural industry to seven specialties, including journalism and mass communication, publishing, and art.

Many cultural and creative enterprises enrolled for talent training with colleges and universities at the event.
