U.S. President Barack Obama is the first U.S. president to visit India twice in office.

It’s also the first time an American president has attended India’s Republic Day parade, which celebrates the day in 1950 when India’s constitution was ratified and the country gained its full independence from Britain.

The parade, complete with flyovers, tanks, camel,s and dancing schoolchildren, is a national holiday celebrating India’s military and cultural richness.

CCTV’s Shweta Bajaj reported this story from New Delhi.

The Heat interviewed Pramit Pal Chaudhuri, a senior associate at the consulting firm the Rhodium Group and the foreign editor of Indian newspaper, the Hindustan Times, about the state of U.S.-India relations.

The Heat also interviewed two experts on India-U.S. ties:

* Hu Shisheng, a senior research fellow at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations in Beijing.

* Lisa Curtis, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation.
