CCTV announces cast for Spring Festival Gala

CCTV Spring Festival Gala 2014 hosts.

China Central Television (CCTV), which has broadcast Spring Festival Galas on the eve of the lunar New Year annually since 1984, on Thursday released the list of performers for this year’s show.

The organizer confirmed on Thursday that more stars favored by audiences of different ages would join the annual TV spectacular, following the release of a preliminary list on Monday.

Andy Lau, a famous singer and actor from the Hong Kong Special Administration Region, will appear on the gala stage for the fifth time, according to CCTV.

Two new faces, Kang Hui and Nigermaidi Zechman, will join the panel of hosts for the 2015 Spring Festival Gala.

This is the first time that Kang Hui, a CCTV news anchor and Nigermaidi Zechman, a variety show host and an ethnic Uyghur, will be hosting the Spring Festival Gala, also known as “Chunwan” in Chinese.

Two new faces, Kang Hui and Nigermaidi Zechman, will join the panel of hosts for the 2015 Spring Festival Gala.

The organizer said this year’s gala would take the preferences of different age group into consideration. The cast includes senior singers like Yang Hongji, Li Guangxi, Yu Shuzhen, and Guan Mucun as well as middle-aged stars Na Ying, Han Lei, and Kai Li.

Young people will also see their favorite stars including mainland singer Li Yuchun, Hong Kong singer G.E.M., and South Korean boy band EXO.
