Since its founded in 2006, DJI has developed drones for a wide array of users, ranging from amateur shutterbug looking for a new perspective, to more professional-level demands.

There are still no exact figures on the drone industry or market shares, but based on the prevalence of the company’s core technology, DJI takes up between 50-70 percent of the global civil drone market, spokesman Michael Perry said.

While the drone industry is on the rise, Perry says there are still major challenges ahead, including the unclear regulations for low-altitude air space, and improving the drones’ core technologies, such as battery life.
