An exploration team’s camera in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region recently took a rare photograph of an endangered snow leopard.

The picture, showing the leopard walking, was taken by an infrared-triggered camera on a cliff of Nanshan Mountain in southern suburb of Urumqi.

Experts estimate that there are 4,510-7,350 snow leopards living in the world, and 60 percent of them are in China.

The team have also shot pictures of other wild animals including the ibex, brown bear, and wolf on the mountain.

“We’ve seen so many wild animals in Urumqi, and I think we should do more for protecting the environment,” said team leader Xing Rui.
