British soul singer, Sam Smith took the spotlight on Sunday night after winning four awards during the 27th annual Grammy Awards. The 22-year-old took both record and song of the year for his heartbreak single “Stay With Me.” And also landed best new artist while his debut album “In the Lonely Hour,” won best pop vocal album.

Beck surprised the ceremony after beating Smith, Pharrell Williams, Beyonce, and Ed Sheeran for album of the year.  The record, “Morning Phase” also won for best rock album. John Legend and Common teamed up to perform their Oscar nominated song “Glory” from the Selma soundtrack.
