European Union leaders met for the first time since last month’s terror attacks in France where Islamic gunmen killed 17 people at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and a kosher grocery store. They discussed measures to keep their citizens safe as part of a counter-terrorism the agenda at this week’s European Union Summit in Brussels.

Plans include exchanging airliner passenger information and moves to tighten controls at borders. CCTV’s Jack Barton reported this story from Brussels.

The Heat interviewed Gilles de Kerchove, EU counter-terrorism coordinator, about the discussions.
