Shopping malls increase security after al-Shabaab threats

Video released by al-Shabaab calls for attacks on shopping malls in the U.S., France, Canada and the U.K.
CCTV America’s Nathan King reported.

The Mall of America in Minnesota, which is the world’s biggest shopping mall is highlighted in the terror threat video. The already high security at that mall has been stepped up even further now.

“I’m not telling people to not go to the mall. I think there needs to be an awareness, there needs to be vigilance and you know, be careful, obviously,” U.S. Homeland Security Jeh Johnson said.

Shoppers at the Mall of America seemed to shrug off the threat.

“I know there was like similar threats throughout the past few months but none of them seemed to be too serious and there’s additional security. So I’m just not too worried about it. I’m not going to be in there very long,” shopper Andrew Leizens said.
