Cuba

Re-opening Cuban and American embassies in Havana and Washington D.C. by mid-April is a possibility, that’s the word from the U.S. negotiator working to re-establish diplomatic ties with Cuban counterpart.Delegations from both nations held a second round of talks in Washington D.C. this Friday. Cuba wanted to be taken off the U.S. State Sponsor of terrorism list so it can operate an embassy in the U.S. Washington wanted that the issue to be de-linked from the effort to re-establish diplomatic relations. U.S. officials are still deciding whether to remove Cuba from the terrorism list, but remain optimistic embassies can open in the next six weeks.

CCTV America interviewed Natalie Alhonte on U.S.-Cuba relations and future dialogue between the two countries. She is the associate director at the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center at the Atlantic Council.
