Thousands of Russians came to say their last farewell to opposition leader and former deputy Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov. As they walked past his coffin, the crowds remembered a man who burst on to the political scene in the 1990s as a young reformer who passionately believed in democracy.

Boris Nemtsov was laid to rest at Troyekurovskoye Cemetery. A funeral wreath from Vladimir Putin was delivered to the ceremony.

Nemtsov was shot in the back four times on Friday as he was walking on a bridge just outside the Kremlin. Opposition leaders strongly criticized Putin of no major development on the investigation.

At least two EU politicians say they were barred from attending the funeral, including a Polish lawmaker and a former Latvian foreign minister.

Russian Investigative Committee said that the killing was planned and that the organizers knew where Boris Nemtsov would be and possibly followed him. The government has offered a reward of $50,000 for information related to the crime. So far, no suspects in this case have been detained – or even identified.
