The battle over mining for gold in Colombia, this week on Americas Now

Marmato is a Colombian town that sits on top a mountain of gold. The locals have been mining the precious mineral for the last five centuries.

But a multinational company has claimed exclusive mining rights in the area, threatening to wipe out the town and its inhabitants.

Correspondent Toby Muse went to Marmato to report on the impact of Colombia’s gold fever.
