China to implement more safeguards for manufacturers

Guangdong province in South China has long been called the World’s Factory because of its booming manufacturing industry. However manufacturers there have been experiencing increased pressure on their exports due to the sluggish world economy, rising labor costs and growing competition. CCTV’s Wu Lei visited some of the manufacturing companies in Guangdong province to see how they are improving their operations in order to compete with other global players.

Highlights:

  • Rising labor costs have become one of the major bottlenecks for traditional manufacturing companies.
  • A growing number of manufacturers in Dongguan have started to use industrial robots, which are believed to largely improve efficiency and lower costs.
