Bartering, the exchange of goods and services between people, has been common practice around the world. One Colombian woman is implementing this tradition in the most unlikely way. Highlights: 

  • Jacqueline Moreno came up with a way to encourage communities to draw on their own resources for development with her foundation called Laudes Infantis.
  • Laudes Infantis has built four barter banks across Bogotá with a kindergarten, theatre, after school tutoring, libraries and workshops.
  • According to the foundation, 16,000 people have benefited from these barter banks.
