NPC Deputies confirm ISIL influence in Xinjiang

The top official of the Communist Party of China in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has confirmed that some residents have joined ISIL. He said this creates a threat to the northwestern Chinese region. CCTV’s Han Peng filed this report from Beijing.

  • Over the past year, the Xinjiang autonomous region has witnessed the bulk of the terrorist atrocities in China. Xinjiang party chief Zhang Chunxian confirmed for the first time there are locals who have crossed the borders to join the Islamic State.
