  • Argentina’s President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and China’s President Xi Jinping signed more than 20 agreements in Beijing in February relating to energy infrastructure, agriculture, and finance.
  • These deals found opposition, both in Argentina’s Congress and its industry.
  • The Argentina Industrial Union raised doubts about how beneficial the agreements would be for local labor.
  • There have been concerns over the bigger picture, and a perceived over-reliance of Argentina on a foreign power, but so too are there supporters, who see these deals as vital for the country to move forward.
