Grassroots organization rallies for new government during Israeli elections

World Today

In Israel’s lead up to March 17 elections, a grassroots organization steered by U.S. President Barack Obama’s campaign strategist is working overtime to overturn current prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership.

CCTV’s Stephanie Freid filed this report from Tel Aviv, Israel.

Highlights:

  •  The grassroots organization calls itself “V15” – for Victory 2015 – and its members are working overtime to push out Israel’s right wing government.
  • Thousands upon thousands of volunteers funded by private U.S. and Israeli donors are pounding the pavement, canvassing neighborhoods and going door-to-door.
  • V15’s main focus is fighting voter apathy and motivating voters to go to the polls on March 17.
  • V15’s tactics, engineered by President Obama’s U.S. based campaign strategist, threatened Netanyahu’s Likud party enough for them to file numerous petitions and legal complaints against the left wing group in an effort to stop them. All claims were rejected.
