The Nigerian government says it is working around the clock to ensure people displaced by Boko Haram return to their homes. Over a million people have been displaced during the five year long conflict. CCTV Africa’s Sophia Adengo filed this report from Abuja.

Highlights:

  • The Gogongola Internally Displaced People’s Camp is just 10 kilometres outside Abuja. It’s home to about a thousand displaced people. Many of them fear returning home to Boko Haram.
  • Access to relief is not guaranteed as the camp is not gazetted.
  • The Nigerian army has retaken the state of Adamawa, but many still remain in the camp.
  • The army on the front line continues to dislodge the insurgents from strongholds in the northeast.
