Stepping up the Clean Air Action plan, Beijing is closing down one of its major coal-power plants. The plant has been standing out from the rest of its neighbors in the city’s central business district for years. CCTV’s Wu Guoxiu filed this report from Beijing.

Highlights:

  • Though emissions were lowered, the now defunct plant still burned over 1 million tons of coal.
  • Closing it is said to be able to eliminate 1,413 tons of sulfur dioxide and 424 tons of dust.
