Carnage in the capital of Yemen. Triple suicide blasts target two mosques in the heart of Sana’a during the busiest worshiping time of the week. More than a 130 people were killed along with some 350 injuries. CCTV America’s Roee Ruttenberg filed this report from Washington.

Highlights:

  • The first bomb explosion went off inside the al-Badr Mosque killing its prominent Imam along with other Houthi clerics seated in the front.
  • The second explosion went off as panicked crowds try to flee another location.
  • A third detonated at another mosque nearby.
  • The mosques are frequently used by Houthi fighters, who control most of northern Yemen, including the capital.
  • Many Gulf leaders say Iran backs the Houthis who seized power last September in a move that surprised many foreign observers.
