Lawyers have filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of ridesharing company drivers who say they are deserving of the benefits of true employees instead of contractors.   • Uber and competitor LYFT now face separate class-action lawsuits on behalf of drivers. In both cases, Federal Court judges in San Francisco ruled it’s up to juries to determine whether rideshare drivers are independent contractors or employees deserving of benefits. Both judges suggested California’s laws may be outmoded in addressing the new sharing economy.
