A look at what the Arab Intervention Force would look like

World Today

The Saudi-led coalition intervening in Yemen involves nine countries. It’s seen by many in the region as a test run for a proposed joint Arab military force agreed to by the Arab League over the weekend, but there are a lot of questions about the proposed coalition. CCTV’s Nathan King filed this report.

Highlights:

  • The force could be comprised of 40,000 elite troops plus aircraft, ships and armored vehicles- a unified command based in either Egypt or Saudi Arabi.
  • Some analysts see the absence of US leadership in the region as a reason for more Sunni Arab intervention.
