US television still lacks the diversity found in US population

Minorities make up nearly 40 percent of the population in the United States. In just a few decades, they’ll become the majority, but that statistic hasn’t registered in Hollywood. The Hollywood Diversity Report examines diversity on screen and behind the scenes.



Note: The samples are selected from 1105 shows for the 2012-2013 season of 16 “diverse” TV shows. The above charts presents the racial and gender shares of all 536 characters coded.
