Saudi-led airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen have continued for a 12th day. There has been little success so far in suppressing the rebels and the coalition is considering sending in ground troops, but some Egyptians fear such a move could take a substantial toll on a country still recovering from years of turmoil. CCTV’s Yasser Hakim filed this report from Cairo.

Highlights:

  • The Egyptian army is already preoccupied with a crackdown on militants in northern Sinai and providing support to the Libyan army against ISIL militias in Libya.
  • Some fear opening a new front in the Gulf will have its repercussions.
  • Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al Sisi said Egypt is working on a diplomatic solution to prevent the unnecessary loss of lives.
