Multi-billion dollar plan to rebuild Ebola hit economies

In West Africa, the three nations hardest hit by the Ebola epidemic have announced an $8 billion plan to rebuild their economies and social structures. CCTV America’s Daniel Ryntjes filed this report from the IMF and World Bank meetings where there are calls for massive international support.

Highlights:

  • The leaders of Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia announced details of what they called a “Marshall Plan” the blueprint for a massive effort to recover from a devastating outbreak.
  • Over the last year, the U.N. says the Ebola outbreak has killed more than 10-thousand 600 people.
  • There were 37 new confirmed cases in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia last week.
  • The World Bank has committed $650 million of low cost loans, in addition to one billion dollars previously provided by the bank.
