UN calling for ceasefire in Yemen

World Today

Intense airstrikes battered Yemen Friday as the Saudi-led coalition targeted Houthi strongholds. One strike reportedly hit an arms depot east of the capital Sanaa while other bombing runs hit the port city of Aden. The United Nations said the violence comes on top of an already complex humanitarian crisis, creating a desperate situation.

The head of the U.N. is now calling for an immediate ceasefire. The former Yemen president also spoke out on social media. CCTV America’s Jim Spellman filed this report from Washington.
