Clara Rojas on efforts to end Colombia’s armed conflict

World Today

Colombian Politician Clara Rojas was once held captive by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. That hardship lasted for around six years, with her nearly dying in giving birth to her son, only to have him taken. After her release, she fought for victim rights in her country and ran for Congress last year. CCTV’s Michelle Begue Interviewed the Congresswoman to discuss the efforts to end the 50 years of armed conflict. The peace process has gone through a critical moment, after the rebel group FARC killed 11 soldiers in an ambush that violated the four month-old rebel ceasefire. While many in this nation are second guessing that this is the adequate road to peace, Rojas shows an unwavering patience.
