Well the country’s economy definitely isn’t getting any help from Petrobras. The state-run energy giant’s corruption scandal is rippling through the economy. Now some of the country’s biggest construction projects are finding it harder to secure funding. Highlights:

  • Government funding cuts and fallout from the country’s largest-ever corruption scandal have stopped infrastructure projects. Job losses are rising by the tens of thousands adding to an already weak economy.
  • In March, Brazilian construction jobs fell by more than 22,000 workers. That’s on top of almost 31,000 jobs the industry hemorrhaged in February.
