China joins fight to end AIDS epidemic by 2030

China says more and more of its people living with AIDS have access to HIV treatment. By the end of last year, almost two-thirds were getting anti-retro viral drugs. CCTV’s Ai Yang filed this report.

Highlights:

  • The Chinese government has decided to increase its support of AIDS prevention by setting up specific funds and encouraging more social participation.
  • In 2014, an additional 85,000 HIV/AIDS patients were provided with anti-retroviral, an increase of 21 percent over the previous year.
  • There were 104,000 newly diagnosed HIV/AIDS cases in 2014, up almost 15 percent (14.8) compared to in 2013.
