Chinese government works to reverse desertification

Forests outside Beijing traditionally offer protection to the capital from sandstorms. But since in the 1960s, many trees have been felled, allowing the grasslands to shrink. The result is widespread desertification and more severe storms. Now the government is trying to reverse this process by removing dead trees and planting new ones. CCTV’s Ning Hong filed this report.
