South Africa power crisis dominates Utility week discussions

The annual Africa Utility Week has kicked off in Cape Town. South Africa is experiencing a severe power crisis, which may last three years. More than five thousand energy experts are attending the forum,to develop strategies to deal with the continent’s perennial power shortages. CCTV’s Rene del Carme filed this report.

  • PTC More and more private South Africans have started generating solar power and feeding back into the country’s national power grid.
  • In 2014 the City of Cape Town signed up with the commercial Black River Park office complex, which provides solar power to many international, high-end tenants as well as the city.
