Wi-Fi enabled bus allows customers to check in using their smartphones

Silicon Valley is a hotbed for technology innovation.  And that also includes the transportation sector.  The region gave rise to ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft.  And now a new player appeals to those who are caught between taking a bus or calling that ride-sharing service. CCTV America’s Mark Niu filed this report from San Francisco.

Highlights:

  • The bus “Leap” features a manager for service, plush leather armchairs, free Wi-Fi and even a bar-like countertop for those who want to work.
  • Customers can board using their smartphone or via Bluetooth — just have your phone inside your pocket and it will automatically check in.
  • Co-founder Kyle Kirchhoff says Leap bought five used buses and worked with a top architecture firm to redesign the experience from scratch.
