Thousands flee Ramadi, Iraq & US look at strategy

The Islamic State captured another major Iraqi city when it took Ramadi this past weekend. Thousands fled and Iraqi forces are now trying to regroup after retreating. CCTV America’s Sean Callebs filed this report from Washington, D.C.

Highlights:

  • The distinctive black flag of the Islamic State now flies over Ramadi, ISIL forces routed poorly trained Iraqi forces and Sunni militia. To the thousands of people forced to flee the violence, it is a devastating loss, leaving refugees stuck in the desert, hungry, thirsty, and eager for answers.
  • The U.S.-led coalition has unleashed more than 34-hundred air attacks on advancing ISIL forces. but Republicans and Democrats are calling on the Obama Administration to come up with a better plan in Iraq, after Iraqi troops were driven from Ramadi.
