African art fair showcases diversity in New York

World Today

African art fair exhibition showcases diversity in contemporary African art. CCTV’s Nick Harper filed this report from New York.

Highlights:

  •  The African art fair showcased some of the newest talent coming out of the continent. Organizers hope it will help promote African art to a wider audience. The show has toured London for two years, and now making its U.S. debut.
  •  This first-of-its-kind exhibition brings together artists from across the 54 countries of Africa-hence its name
  •  The work is being shown in a New York gallery owned by Somalian Mariane Ibrahim-Lenhardt. This show simply adds to the diversity of expression in New York, as well as giving artists an international platform to show their blend of ancient heritage interpreted in a contemporary way.
