Iran reportedly sent humanitarian supplies to Yemen

Refugee and Migrant Crisis

Iran recently sent a cargo ship to Yemen with humanitarian supplies. Iran rival Saudi Arabia warned Iran not to sail the ship directly to Yemen. CCTV’s Frances Kuo filed this report.

Highlights:

  • The Saudis accused Iran of using the Houthis as a proxy to increase Shi’ite influence in the region.
  • Iran’s reach has also stretched to Syria. It’s seen as the biggest ally to Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad.
  • Iran extended its credit line to Syria totaling one billion dollars, a crucial lifeline for the nation crippled by ISIL and a civil war lasting more than 4 years.

Discussion on Iran and relations around the country
CCTV’s Asieh Namdar spoke to Hossein Mousavian about issues in Iran. He’s a former Iranian diplomat — and former head of the Foreign Relations Committee of Iran’s National Security Council.
