Mass grave investigation continues at Thai, Malaysia border

World Today

Investigators in Malaysia continued to exhume the remains of those buried in mass graves at sites along the border between Thailand and Malaysia, believed to be related to human trafficking. CCTV’s Tony Cheng filed this report on the border there.

More details:

  • 139 graves have been identified so far, but the final number of bodies could be much more. 27 campsites have been identified in the area.
  • The human remains are thought to be predominantly Rohingya refugees from Myanmar, held captive in these camps until their families paid ransom.
  • Extra security has been requested at the border area to make sure traffickers can no longer operate there.
