Thai Navy failed to find Southeast Asian migrants

World Today

In Southeast Asia, thousands of Rohingya migrants from Myanmar are stuck and lost on the Andaman sea. And human-trafficking camps in Thailand and Malaysia are being shut down. Despite offers of aid from Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, not a single boat has been found.
CCTV-America’s Tony Cheng files the report from the Andaman sea off the coast of Thailand.

Highlights:.

  • That aid is going to be provided aboard the HTMS Angthong, a floating dock that can literally provide a floating harbour for any Rohingya boats thought to be in need.
  • In 2009, it was revealed the Navy was leaving disabled Rohingya boats on the open sea, often without food, fuel or water.
