French Alps crash prompts stricter pilot screening in Germany

Global Business

German officials are calling for a serious look at technology that would allow an aircraft to be flown and landed from the ground after the crash in the French Alps, which calls for improved pilot screening.

CCTV’s Hendrik Sybrandy filed this report from Denver.

Highlights:

  • At Metropolitan University of Denver, students learn how to fly people safely from point A to point B, a principle of flight that was broken when Germanwings Flight 9525 crashed.
  • The crash prompted the head of German Air Traffic Control to call for a deeper look at systems which would allow people on the ground to take control of aircraft and potentially land them.
