CCTV America’s Shraysi Tandon interviewed author and New York Times columnist Frank Bruni about the benefits of higher education and asked him one more question about whether attending an Ivy League school is a better return on investment for students. Here’s his response:

“I think it depends utterly on the person. When one says… Oh, the Ivy League is better investment, well for whom? I mean no one school is right for everybody. I’ve interviewed people who’ve gone to the Ivy League, and because they really weren’t suited to a stage that was overcrowded with overachievers, they felt like they flailed there, when they might have flourished elsewhere,” Bruni said.

CCTV America's Shraysi Tandon interviewed New York Times columnist Frank Bruni about the benefits of higher education and asked him one more question about whether attending an ivy league school is a better return on investment for students. Here's his response:

“I know kids who by going to an Ivy League school got kind of swept up into what everyone else was doing and just followed the path, economics major, financial industry, etc.. and looked back and said what was that about? I never discovered my own passion,” Bruni continued.

“So I don’t think the Ivy League is right for everybody, I don’t think a state university is right for everybody. College is a fit, it’s a tailored match. So whenever we speak in broad terms about certain kinds of schools being better or worse we’re ignoring the common sense that college is a match, it’s a tailored fit.”
