It’s a very modern addiction with potentially fatal consequences. Driving while texting, tweeting or even taking a ‘selfie.’  Despite the warnings, we continue to do it. And while technology is partly to blame, it may also provide a solution. CCTV America’s business correspondent Owen Fairclough filed this report from Blacksburg, Virginia.

Highlights: 

  •  Nearly half a million Americans have been injured in distraction-related crashes in 2013. More than three thousand people died.
  • Even though most U.S. states ban it, a survey by telecoms firm AT& T found texting at the wheel is the number one phone-related distraction. Emailing, tweeting and updating Facebook accounts aren’t far behind
