A battle to determine fate for millions of Chinese students

World Today

Highlight:

  • Most Chinese college-base admissions almost solely rely on the Gaokao. The test covers subjects like science and math plus essay questions.
  • In the U.S., the system is different. Students take standardized tests like the SAT but colleges usually consider a wider set of criteria.
