After 4 years of disappointing growth, developing countries are expected to see 4.4 percent growth this year – falling short of World Bank estimates. Developing economies have played an increasingly important role in the global economy, outpacing high-income countries. This was particularly important in weathering the financial crisis, when developing countries kept the engines of global growth churning.
