The stars are shining brightly in China’s bustling commercial capital. Entertainers from around the globe gathered in Shanghai, for the opening of its International Film Festival. CCTV-America’s Xu Geng filed the report from Shanghai.

- The Shanghai International Film Festival was first held in 1993, and is increasing in importance as the Chinese box office entered a boom in the past years.
- Over 1,200 contemporary and classic films from around the world will be shown.
