“All of the three males and one female are pretty healthy as the mother tiger is quite mature after giving birth to 19 cubs in seven pregnancy,” said Liu Dan, the chief engineer of Heilongjiang Siberian Tiger Park.

It is the first time for the park to have the largest number of Siberian tiger cubs born in the wild since it started an experiment of wild breeding for tigers in 2011.

“Tigers need to be able of giving birth in the wild if they are to return to the wild. Successful wild breeding and survival of cubs are significant factors, which will determine whether tigers can return to the wild or not,” Liu said.

Siberian tigers are among the world’s ten most endangered species and mostly live in northeast China and eastern Russia.

The park currently has more than 1,000 Siberian tigers and is the largest Siberian tiger breeding and field training center in the world.
