US government banning trans fats

The average American diet is about to see some changes. U.S. Federal regulators acted this month to ban trans fats from all food products and are ordering them to be totally phased out by 2018.

The Food and Drug Administration is blaming partially hydrogenated oil as the source of trans fats and said it’s a threat to public health. Many health experts applaud the move, saying it will prevent thousands of fatal heart attacks every year.
