More than 470 injured in Taiwan park fire

A fire, which was suspected of resulting from explosion of a large amount of unknown flammable powder, in a recreational park in Taiwan’s New Taipei city on Saturday has injured more than 470 people.

Suffering various degrees of burns, the injured, including 96 seriously hurt, had been rushed to dozens of hospitals in New Taipei city and nearby cities of Taipei and Taoyuan, according to local fire department.

The fire broke out at about 8:30 p.m. at the main stage of a water park, which was having a Color Play Asia party.

This is the worst incident of mass injury in the history of New Taipei city.

According to the Associated Press, the incident occurred at Formosa Water Park in New Taipei City near the island’s capital City. The report added that the fire was quickly brought under control.

In latest updates, according to CCTV News, more than 470 have been injured and the organizers of the event have been talen into custody. An investigation is currently underway.
