Cities in east China’s Zhejiang Province activated emergency response mechanisms and made preparations for the landfall of Typhoon Chan-Hom, expected to arrive Friday. In a port in Cangnan County, sea waves started to batter the stones on the shore and a dam that is under construction. Workers had packed up their things and were preparing to be evacuated to safer areas. Residents in the country were using planks to seal their windows and doors in order to prevent storms.

In Huzhou City, four out of five reservoirs began to discharge water as a precautionary safety measure before the typhoon hits.

The quickly moving typhoon could land in Fujian and neighboring Zhejiang province late Friday as a strong, or super, typhoon, bringing heavy rainfall, according to the National Meteorological Center.
Authorities in coastal areas in south and east China were also taking preventive measures against Typhoon Linfa, which made landfall on Thursday in south China’s Guangdong Province.

China’s typhoon weary southeastern coast is bracing for yet another even stronger Typhoon to come ashore. This as Typhoon Linfa made landfall in south China’s Guangdong Province. Strong winds and heavy rains will continue to affect the region. CCTV’s Wu Lei filed this report from Guangdong.
