Alba Colon is one of the highest ranking females in the world of motor sports. A lead engineer for General Motor’s Chevy Racing, she is not only a woman but Latina as well.
Born in Spain and raised in Puerto Rico, she grew up having dreams of becoming an astronaut and joining NASA. But while studying to become an engineer her dreams began to switch to NASCAR.
Colon discovered her interest in cars rivaled her love of space and rockets. Today, she has achieved a successful career in the U.S. and is living her life in the fast lane.
NASCAR is a male-dominated sport. Colon has ascended higher than any woman ever at Chevy Racing. Correspondent John Zarrella takes us to Detroit to talk to her at the track.
