Pakistan has completed the first phase of its very first solar project, built by China. The 1,000 megawatt Solar Park is designed to help overcome Pakistan’s growing energy crisis. It’s expected to be the largest in the world. CCTV’s Danial Khan filed the report from Bahawalpur.

Highlight:

  • The first phase of the project completed at a cost of $131 million in one year, produces 100 megawatts of electricity that has already been linked to the national transmission grid.
  • Experts believe the Chinese power plants installed at the park are expected to last for more than 25 years.
  • The one thousand megawatts facility spreads over a massive 6500 acres of desert area, with sun blazing at its extreme for over three thousand hours a year.
